Mardi Gras comes to Mass Street

By Theo Hayes on February 21, 2012

LAWRENCE - The fifth annual Mardi Gras parade took over Massachusetts street in honor of Fat Tuesday.

Dozens of people dressed in outrageous costumes played instruments and went door to door, serenading the public. Katie Euliss and her family brought the celebration to Lawrence after being displaced from their New Orleans home following Hurricane Katrina. Euliss says residents in Lawrence have taken to the celebration. “People are learning," says Euliss. “They are coming out dressing up and dancing down the streets and they are taking time off work to do it.”

The parade began at Aimee’s Coffee House and traveled all the way down Mass Street where it ended at Free State Brewery.
