LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas Public Radio has broadcast one of the nation's longest-running public radio programs for the last time.

The program "Opera is My Hobby," was first aired in September 1952.

Jim Seaver hosted the program until his death in March at the age of 92. Since then, his family helped choose encore episodes for broadcast.

The last show was Friday.

Station KPR is licensed to the University of Kansas. The school says the program is one of the longest continuously running programs in the history of radio. Until Seaver's death, it was the second-longest-running public radio show with its original host.

Seaver was an expert on opera and taught western civilization and ancient history at the University of Kansas for about 40 years.
